In 2022 new legislation comes into effect which drastically changes how new stoves are to be built and sold. In an effort to ‘future-proof’ our stove lines, we have decided to have all new stoves we produce adhere to this new legislation.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
All woodburning and multifuel stoves to be manufactured after 1st January 2022 should have been independently tested by an approved test laboratory, which should conform to the following standards –
- Carbon Monoxide Emissions (at 13% O2) – 0.12
- Hydro Carbon Emissions – 120
- Nitrous Oxide Emissions – 200
- DIN Plus Particulates – 40
Stoves will also need to have a minimum efficiency of 75%
All these figures combine to create a stove that is cleaner burning and kinder to the environment than the majority of stoves available today.
HOW DO OUR STOVES MEASURE UP?
As of January 2019 we have 5 stoves that have been put through the rigorous ECODESIGN 2022 test process. All of these have passed by a fantastic margin. For example, our Cropton stove has achieved results that beat the legislation by 50% or more –
All new stoves we release will be put through the ECODESIGN testing, and we hope to have our older models tested in the coming months and years.
WILL THIS EFFECT STOVES THAT ARE ALREADY INSTALLED?
No, this legislation only effect stoves that will be manufactured after the 1st January 2022. There is no need to replace your stove prematurely.
