Why should I choose a Steel stove?

Cast Irons stoves are bolted together and sealed using fire cement & rope which makes them less airtight & not as durable as steel stoves.

All of our stoves are made from high quality British steel that is bent & welded into shape giving a more airtight seal so that they are more efficient & controllable.

Steel stoves expand & contract more when they are heating up than cast iron stoves. This makes them more durable by reducing the chance of a steel stove cracking.

What fuel can I burn on my Town & Country Stove?

All of our stoves are able to burn dry & seasoned logs (maximum moisture content of 20%). This is the only fuel you can burn on our Woodburners.

For our solid fuel stoves you can also burn some approved smokeless fuels. For a full list of approved fuels see the DEFRA approved smokeless fuels website. Burning a non approved fuel such as a liquid fuel, wood pellets, wood chips, rubbish or household coal could cause damage to the stove that would not be covered by our warranty.  We do not recommend all approved smokeless fuel as some that are high in levels of petroleum, petroleum coke, anthracite or sulphur can also cause damage to your stove. 

 

Who can install a Town & Country Stove?

We recommend our stoves are installed by a Qualified Installer who is a member of a competent persons scheme such as HETAS or OFTEC.  The stove must be installed to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and to all Local Building Regulations, National and European Standards. Your Local Approved Dealer will be able to advise you of Qualified Installers in your area.

If a stove isn't installed and signed off by a qualified installer then it must be signed off by your local building control.

Where can I purchase new door rope for my Town & Country Stove?

We use a bespoke rope for our door seals and we do recommend the correct rope is used to maintain a good seal. Replacement rope kits can be purchased from your local approved stockist. The door handle on our solid fuel stoves (not the Pickering Eco or Alandale Eco) is threaded so this can be adjusted as the rope wears with time to maintain a good seal.

If a fire brick cracks do I need to replace it?
Small cracks in the bricks won't hinder a stoves performance until the brick begins to disintegrate or if it's no longer fully supporting a baffle. The bricks are designed to protect the body of the stove from heat so if the brick disintegrates it will no longer protect the body and it may become damaged.  
 
New bricks or any other spares for your Town and Country Stove can be purchased from the Approved stockist where the stove was originally purchased.
 
What kW stove do I need? Do I need a flue liner?

We specialize in the manufacture of stoves but we do not install ourselves. We cannot advise what kW output you would need or if you will require a flue liner. Your installer will be able to advise you better on what you would need.
